Shepy at XSReviews has tested the Roccat Sota Granular mousepad
A solid performance from this mat, way better than I had expected as I’m not usually a fan of the hard topped surfaces. I’m still unsure of the need to be hard topped and flexible, but putting that aside I really can’t fault it other than its metallic blue colour and that’s just a personal preference! I even tried peeling apart the layers in one corner to get a feel for how durable it would be and they are stuck together really well. The Roccat has impressed me so much that this has now replaced my existing mat and will be my normal day to day pad of choice.

Ok so you’ve had enough of us waxing lyrical about the new ROCCAT™ Sota Granular Gaming Mousepad saying how absolutely brilliant, excellent, immense etc. it is, but you want to know the details of the product so here’s the official press release from Roccat.
ROCCAT presented the first product from its Smart Desktop Management System (SDMS) last July in the form of the ROCCAT Apuri USB-Hub with Mouse Bungee. With the ROCCAT Sota Granular Mousepad, there now follows a compact mousepad which unites the properties of both a hard and a soft pad in one mousepad. The granular surface makes the mouse appear weightless and the soft backing provides comfort and grip. A metal film is integrated between these two layers which makes the new ROCCAT mousepad the perfect pad for both optical and laser mice thanks to its high level of reflectivity. At the same time, the metal film helps give the ROCCAT Sota a characteristic metallic shimmer.

All in all this router looks great, is extremely simple to set up, but more than anything else, allows your gaming to take precedence over anything else your connection is doing, meaning you can play and chat without have to pause your downloads.
I started a download from the Ubuntu website, which reached a decent rate of around 500KB/s, then loaded up World of Warcraft. I was pleased to find that I was playing with a latency of 47ms, which is no more than I ever have. I also checked MSN conversation lag and skype quality while still downloading and playing, with no ill effects! So far so good, but the website download wasn’t maxing out my connection, so I loaded up a newsgroup download of a similar file.
This instantly hit 1200KB/s (mmmmmm…) and WoW latency jumped to a (not so) whopping 97ms. Very nice indeed.
